Participation in recreational activities has a greater benefit to socialize and meet other people that normally have no contact with in their daily lives. Activities such as skiing, ice skating, ice fishing, bird watching and taking pictures, cycling, and running are amongst popular winter recreational activities. Although these winter leisure interests can provide a better health condition for most people, there are some imperative concerns in those who have a disorder named “Raynaud’s phenomenon” which could be triggered by cold exposure. In cases with Raynaud’s phenomenon, hands and feet overreact to cold. They may become painful and numb, and they can change colors, becoming very pale and then blue. On the basis of reviewed materials, women are at a higher risk of experiencing Raynaud’s phenomenon. In the present study, some practical countermeasures for the protection of hands during and/or after winter recreational activities are presented.
