Amylamine was dehydrogenated by platinum on carbon to generate an appropriate amount of hydrogen gas, which efficiently promoted the H–D exchange reaction. Various allylic alcohols were site-selectively deuterated with good to excellent deuterium contents without hydrogenation of the alkene functionality.
