Significant Cu accumulation is observed in several tumor tissues. The bioavailability of intracellular Cu is tightly controlled by Cu transporters, including Cu transporter 1 (CTR1) and Cu-transporting P-type ATPase α and β (ATP7A and ATP7B), and Cu chaperones, including Cu chaperone for superoxide dismutase 1 (CCS) and antioxidant-1 (Atox-1). In several tumor tissues, these abnormalities that induce intracellular Cu accumulation are involved in tumor progression. In addition, functional disturbance in Cu-containing secretory enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase 3 (SOD3), and lysyl oxidase enzymes (LOX and LOXL1–4) with abnormal Cu dynamics plays a key role in tumor metastasis. For example, the loss of SOD3 in tumor tissues induces oxidative stress, which promotes neovascularization and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). LOX promotes collagen crosslinking, which functions in the metastatic niche formation. Accordingly, restricted Cu regulation may be a novel strategy for the inhibition of tumor metastasis. However, it is unclear how these Cu disturbances occur in tumor tissues and the exact molecular mechanisms underlying Cu secretory enzymes. In this review article, I discuss the role of Cu transporters, Cu chaperones, and Cu-containing secretory enzymes in tumor progression to better understand the role of Cu homeostasis in tumor tissues."}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"copper","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"copper transporters","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"copper chaperone","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"copper-containing secretory enzymes","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"tumor metastasis","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Copper in the tumor microenvironment and tumor metastasis","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Copper in the tumor microenvironment and tumor metastasis"}]},"item_type_id":"4","owner":"168","path":["269"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2023-03-14"},"publish_date":"2023-03-14","publish_status":"0","recid":"14799","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Copper in the tumor microenvironment and tumor metastasis"],"weko_creator_id":"168","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-19T07:39:15.577323+00:00"}
