値 | Focusing on the Pharmaceutical Intervention Records (PIR) project conducted in collaboration Gifu Pharmaceutical University with the Gifu Pharmaceutical Association, this study analyzed the characteristics and economic impact of prescription question to adjust prescriptions according to volumes of patient unused medicines. Pharmacists audited data for 1,546 prescriptions in the PIR database in 2018. For analysis, we divided these 1,546 prescriptions to form a subject group (prescriptions based on adjustments to account for unused medicines) and a control group (other prescriptions). The reduction in drug cost per prescription was 2,745 yen in the subject group, which was significantly greater than that in the control group (842 yen). In the subject group, pharmacists typically recovered unused medicines by communicating with patients and their family members, using brown bags, and conducting brought-in-drug checks. As a result of the audit, there was a high rate of changing days and canceling medicine. The drug costs are considered to have been greatly reduced by these methods. In addition, we found drug efficacy classifications that were easily adjusted on the basis of unused medicines. These included agents for urogenital organs, herbal medicines, hyperlipidemia agents, anticoagulants (topical), vasodilators, anti‐inflammatory agents (topical), antihypertensive agents, and others. | |||||
